In Stephens Kings The Gun Slinger, the main character is the Gun Slinger, he is a moderately older fellow that is highly trained with rifles, however, he is the last of his kind that is sworn to find, and kill the man in black. The man in black is of some shorts a demon, he is has been running from the Gun Slingers for years and years. He will stop at nothing to get away from him. Throughout the book the Gun Slinger gets closer and closer to the man in black, coming across his recently burnt out fires and hot coals, however, he is still a good day behind him. As time goes on he travels through a giant desert and huge mountains, slowly closing on his target. Throughout the journey, he comes across old towns and small villages and a could homesteaders that live on the land. One of my favorites was this very old man that had a house that was built partly under the ground and had a well for water. The old man was kinda a little crazy however he had this very strange bird that didn't say much just yelled out a could prayers and other little things. Yet while he was their his donkey died, causing him to go back to town, and buy another. Costing him valuable time. Making the man in black to get farther and farther away from him. Even though the man in black keeps getting farther away the Gunslinger doesn't stop and keeps on going and makes great time and will soon be right behind the man in black. The Gunslingers task is one of the hardest things to do, find and kill a man, yet the man has had a very long head start. If I was him I would have given up a long time ago and built a house or something close to that. What would you do if you were the Gunslinger.
